Does wisdom require patience?

Throughout my life, I have come to a place where I had to make a decision. Naturally, I'm sure you have been in this place too. Often times, I have not been sure about the thing I should do or the words that I should say.  If I am to be completely honest with you, at moments where I am full of emotions, I don't want to wait or take my time.  I get rather antsy... I want to hurry up and make a decision or say something. I have come to realize that the wise are patent because they wait to hear wisdom speak.  When we move or act hastly, we are unable to hear wisdom clearly because we are acting out of our own wills and thoughts. Hear instruction and be wise, and do not disdain it. ~Proverbs 8:33 When we decide to turn from our own wills and thoughts, we turn from pride and arrogance.  We turn from evil and perverse things.  By turning from that which God hates, evil and perverse things, we turn to God.  By turning to God we turn to wisdom. I wisdom, dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge and discretion.  The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate.  ~Proverbs 8:12, 13 This seems so simple, but it is harder to … [Read more...]

They Need Us To Pray

Years ago, when I had given God my all and decided that I wanted Him in my life and I wanted to be apart of  His kingdom, something I didn't expect to happen,  happened.  I was home one night and the Lord spoke into my heart, giving me directions.  He told me to get my cd case and get rid of all my secular music.  Now, at that time, I had a lot of secular cds.  My husband had just brought me a case that would hole at least 100 cds and it was jammed packed.  I sat there for a moment wondering what I was supposed to do and if He really expected me to do it.  The thought of getting rid of all of my cds kinda, no, it really did hurt, but I  believed that was what God wanted me to do.   I didn't understand why, but I planned on taking them somewhere to sell them.  As I searched for a place to do so, I heard His voice in my heart again.  He told me that I didn't need to sell them.  I thought that I would just give them away, but he told me that the music wasn't good for me or anyone else.  I still didn't understand it, but I listened.  I knew what I had to do.  I got a trash can and all 100+ of my cds and I broke them one by one.  How did I do it?  The only that I could.  By the … [Read more...]

The Courage to Remain

It isn't always easy to do what is right.  Not one person across the globe has intentionally said "I am always going to do what is wrong." Yet each decision that we make falls into one of the following categories, right decision and wrong decision.  That right and wrong aren't just any old right and wrong, but instead they are the right and wrong from the perspective of One who is truly able to judge.  This One has the best interest of everyone involved in every situation and so when He looks at a thing and judges,.He judges wisely and righteously. I'm sure that by now, because of all the capital "H's" you were able to figure out who He is, but in knowing whom He is there may be a bit of apprehension.  You may be thinking, "How am I supposed to make decisions that God would see as being right?"  Well, there is a way to measure the decisions that are being made.  Just like in this world that we live in there are laws that set standards and tell a person if they are making a right decision or a wrong decision.  There are also spiritual laws that govern the decisions that we make.  Those laws are found in the bible. This morning, I am amazed by the Lord, His infinite wisdom, and … [Read more...]

Proverbs 7

1 My son, keep my words, And treasure my commands within you. 2 Keep my commands and live, And my law as the apple of your eye. 3 Bind them on your fingers; Write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” And call understanding your nearest kin, 5 That they may keep you from the immoral woman, From the seductress who flatters with her words. 6 For at the window of my house I looked through my lattice, 7 And saw among the simple, I perceived among the youths, A young man devoid of understanding, 8 Passing along the street near her corner; And he took the path to her house 9 In the twilight, in the evening, In the black and dark night. 10 And there a woman met him, With the attire of a harlot, and a crafty heart. 11 She was loud and rebellious, Her feet would not stay at home. 12 At times she was outside, at times in the open square, Lurking at every corner. 13 So she caught him and kissed him; With an impudent face she said to him: 14 “ I have peace offerings with me; Today I have paid my vows. 15 So I came out to meet you, Diligently to seek your face, And I have found you. 16 I have spread my bed with … [Read more...]

Proverbs Day 5

The Peril of Adultery 1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding, 2 That you may preserve discretion, And your lips may keep knowledge. 3 For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil; 4 But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword. 5 Her feet go down to death, Her steps lay hold of hell. 6 Lest you ponder her path of life— Her ways are unstable; You do not know them. 7 Therefore hear me now, my children, And do not depart from the words of my mouth. 8 Remove your way far from her, And do not go near the door of her house, 9 Lest you give your honor to others, And your years to the cruel one; 10 Lest aliens be filled with your wealth, And your labors go to the house of a foreigner; 11 And you mourn at last, When your flesh and your body are consumed, 12 And say: “ How I have hated instruction, And my heart despised correction! 13 I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined my ear to … [Read more...]

Proverbs 3

Guidance for the Young 1 My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; 2 For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, 4 And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh And strength to your bones. 9 Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine. 11 My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor detest His correction; 12 For whom the LORD loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights. 13 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; 14 For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold. 15 She is more precious than rubies, And all the … [Read more...]
