Quote On Prayer

"Prayer is the language of the poor. ¬†The self-sufficient don't need to pray. ¬†The self-satisfied don't want to pray. ¬†The self-righteous can't pray. ¬†The only ones who can pray are those who realize that we need a power outside of ourselves." ~Leonard Ravenhill … [Read more...]

Coming As A Child…

It's not everyday that things are so plainly brought to our attention, but when they are, we must use all our senses to receive what is being pushed in our direction. That being said... Today I read Luke 17:11-19 In this passage, Jesus was headed to Jerusalem. He was between two different lands, Samaria and Galilee. There were ten lepers that saw him passing and cried out to Him for mercy. The first thing that I noticed was that they had enough faith to cry out to Him. Not only did they cry out to Him, but they knew that He cared enough, that if they called out to Him, He would answer. Question: Do I have enough faith to call out to God? And if so, will I also make my request known to Him? Answer: It seems that this question alludes to a type of prayer. Prayer is communication between me and God, right?! I guess the real question here is, am I willing to pray and make my requests known, with expectation...not just that my prayers will be heard or answered, but instead that He will answer my prayers? I am willing to pray, but I guess the best way to put it is that my spirit is willing, but my flesh is weak. I think that I made my prayer time so complicated that … [Read more...]

Does God Speak?

I was asleep on the couch, until 4:20, when I heard my husband say, "Get up!" His words weren't normally so direct, especially at this hour. Yet when I opened my eyes and saw Him sitting straight up on the opposite couch, I immediately responded. Out of the corner of my eye there was a flash of light and I heard a roll of thunder. As quick as I had heard my husband's voice and responded, the hail began to fall from sky. It was clear to me that my Father in heaven was trying to get my attention. Following my husband down the stairs, thoughts of Matthew 24 came to mind and I asked myself would I be ready. I immediately thought of all of the events that were taking place in the earth that showed of the times that we are in and I asked again "Will I be ready?" I assured myself that I would, but as I saw the flashes of lightning, heard the thunder and the sound of hail stones falling quaked in my ears, I quickly walked to the other side of the house and down the hallway to see if my kids were still there. "Had they been taken up and I missed it?" I thought. Oh how I was relieved when I walked to the end of the hallway to find that they were still there. Once back in … [Read more...]

A Prayer From Psalm 17

Praying the word of God is one of the best things that we could do in our lives.¬† Sometimes our hearts search for the words that would make our deepest cry known to our God and Father.¬† The Lord has given us these words as guidance and as a resource for those moments when we want to use wisdom as well as cry out "Abba Father, I need You!" Be encouraged to pray the words of this psalm and in your heavenly language.¬† For in the Spirit we speak in an unknown tongue directly to the heart of God...what more could we ask for?¬† Remember, He hears us when we pray. A prayer of David. Hear me, LORD, my plea is just; listen to my cry. Hear my prayer‚ÄĒ it does not rise from deceitful lips. Let my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right. Though you probe my heart, though you examine me at night and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil; my mouth has not transgressed. Though people tried to bribe me, I have kept myself from the ways of the violent through what your lips have commanded. My steps have held to your paths; my feet have not stumbled. I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my … [Read more...]

Prayer

If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.     ~2 Chronicles 7:14 We must always remember that our God longs to hear from us.  He is waiting to do many great and wonderful things for us, but He does wait on us to ask of Him that He may bless us in ways that are unimaginable.  I praise and thank God for His willingness to communicate to us over and over again how much He loves us.  It is that very love and faithfulness that grabs our attention and draws us near to the Father's heart.
