Proverbs Day 1

Proverbs 1 The Beginning of Knowledge 1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel: 2 To know wisdom and instruction, To perceive the words of understanding, 3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity; 4 To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion— 5 A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, 6 To understand a proverb and an enigma, The words of the wise and their riddles. 7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. Shun Evil Counsel 8 My son, hear the instruction of your father, And do not forsake the law of your mother; 9 For they will be a graceful ornament on your head, And chains about your neck. 10 My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent. 11 If they say, “Come with us, Let us lie in wait to shed blood; Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause; 12 Let us swallow them alive like Sheol, And whole, like those who go down to the Pit; 13 We shall find all kinds of precious possessions, We shall fill our houses with spoil; 14 Cast in your lot among us, Let us all … [Read more...]

What Am I Working For

John 6:27 "Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you.  For on him God the Father has sent His seal." It is in our nature to work.  We are always working and striving to meet some goal.  But, how will that ambition to reach the goal affect our lives.  If it is a natural goal that is strenuous on our bodies, it may cause a lot of tension, stress, and heartache.  There are even some spiritual goals that we set and we take the time to plan how we are going to accomplish them, but we forget to ask God for His input on how to execute them.  We have to be careful and make sure that we are always doing things by the spirit because the word of God says that to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:6  I don't know anyone who doesn't want life and peace. Yet are we prepared to do what it takes to have that precious promise of God? I have found that with all of the different hats that I wear in this life, there is always a desire to keep going.  I feel like I just have to keep pushing and keep running and keep working, but there are times … [Read more...]

Where is God?

Do you ever feel like you are out here in this big lonely world all alone?  Ever wonder where your faith in God will actually take you?  Do you ever think "What's the point?"  If so, you are not alone.  Many people have felt the same way at some point and time in their lives.  Even the Psalmist from the Bible have said to our creator, "Where are you?"  The amazing and comforting thing about God is that He knows how we think and He wants us to seek and search for Him.  In our searching He will reveal Himself to us and we will know where He is. Let's take a look at Joshua 1:7-9 "Be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Our heavenly Father … [Read more...]

Isaiah 53

Who has believed our report? And to whom shall the arm of the Lord been revealed? For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant. And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form of comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and He was afflicted Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent So He opened not His mouth. He was taken to prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions … [Read more...]

Exodus 14

Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:  “Speak to the children of Israel, that they turn and camp before Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, opposite Baal Zemphon; you shall camp before it by the sea.  For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, ‘They are bewildered by the land; the wilderness has closed them in.’ Then I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, so that he will pursue them; and I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD.” And they did so.Now it was told the king of Egypt that the people had fled, and the heart of Pharaoh and his servants was turned against the people; and they said, “Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?” So he made ready his chariot and took his people with him.  Also, he took six hundred choice chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt with captains over every one of them. And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Israel; and the children of Israel went out with boldness.  So the Egyptians pursued them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen and his army, and overtook them camping by the sea … [Read more...]

Genesis 1:26-31

And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind.  And God saw that it was good. Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our  likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."  So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.  Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." And God said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.  Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food"; and it was so.  Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it … [Read more...]
