How Much Do You Have to Hate?

How much do you hate people? That's quite a loaded question isn't it? I'm sure your initial response is "I don't hate people!" You may not, but I think if many of us took the time to really think about how we feel sometimes... there may very well be a level of hatred toward others that we're reluctant to admit is in our hearts. Still feel this doesn't apply to you? When was the last time you looked at someone judgmentally, perhaps with a disgusted look on your face, because of something they were doing or how they appeared? When was the last time you reached out to that downright cruel individual to help them with something they needed? When did you last avoid that person in the store because it would just be "awkward"? These things don't normally fall under the hate category, but maybe they should. After all, if hate is the opposite of love and the feelings you have for someone at a given moment couldn't be further from LOVE, then what do you call it? Let me get really personal here so you don't feel like I'm trying to step on your toes. I want to share a part of my testimony that will hopefully get us off our rears regarding others and Christ's call to love them … [Read more...]

What’s the Point?

I realize that, it being just a couple of weeks until Christmas, the internet is flooded with sweet sentiments, adorable adornments, and funny family faux pas. In seeing the above image I'm sure the first thing that popped into your mind was; "Oh, another Christmas post talking about how Jesus is the reason for the season." Am I right? OK- yes, you're right, but not in the way you may be thinking. You see, more than likely if you're reading this post, you at least somewhat believe in Christ and attempt to live your life in reflection of those beliefs. Since I completely recognize my own sinful state... allow me to poke at you a bit in hopes that we will both have our eyes opened a little wider this Christmas season. See that baby in the picture? While, granted, we all know this isn't Jesus Himself, but merely an "actor", imagine with me that it is Him. That sweet little one that we worship and adore, that the wise men sought out, and that a King was threatened by, that little innocent child was born to die. Those sweet eyes would behold the spiritual warfare that few of us could even imagine, those chubby hands would one day feel the insurmountable pain of thick nails driving … [Read more...]

The Lord is My Shepherd

Trust in the Lord, He is Faithful   (I wanted to revive this and our trust in Him) Psalm 23:1-6 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me besides the still waters He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me;  Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever. This psalmist knew that God was faithful.  He saw God as a daily provider that would always take care of Him. My question to you today is how do you see God? Do you trust Him? Do you trust His word?   The Lord is my shepherd… (you may listen to the audio as this is taught on In His Name Ministries Prayer and Intercession, prayer line.) Psalm 78:52, 53 But He made His own people go forth like sheep, And guided them in the wilderness like a flock; And He led them on safely, so that they did not … [Read more...]

No Regrets

"Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak. Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person."  - Colossians 4: 2-6 (emphasis mine) We’re getting closer to the weekend! Along with the recognition of this particular time of the week- there is usually a barrage of cheers, sighs of relief, and often-times hopes of laziness on many people's part. Is that you? Do you see the end of the week (or any other day for that matter) as just another day to "get through" so that you can enjoy yourself or do you see it as another opportunity to grab onto something that you may have overlooked or simply ignored yesterday? I don’t always feel like “seizing the day”. With 2 kids you never know what things will come up: colds, a 2 year old's sporadic sleep schedule, … [Read more...]

Planning to Fail

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. (Colossians 3:23-24) I wonder how many of you have ever been in a situation that you truly believed God led you to... only to have it fail by no apparent fault of your own. Does this seem like an odd statement or do you know exactly what I'm talking about? I mean, you know God wanted you to do something, He confirmed it many times, you prayed throughout the entire endeavor to stay in God's will, God opened doors for you, you worked your absolute hardest, and at the end of the tunnel stood that door-LOCKED! While every situation is different and there are countless reasons behind every plan that was not seen through to completion, allow me to introduce merely one scenario that God has taught me a lesson through... I label this lesson: Planning to Fail. This sounds counterproductive but trust me- it isn't in the case I'm referring to. You see, we always need to be sensitive to the leading of the Spirit and be willing to work as hard as necessary (for as long as necessary) in order to see God's … [Read more...]

Just How Mature Are You?

Y'all ready for this one? I'm gonna step on some toes the way I had mine stepped on- and it's gonna hurt so good! This is a topic that many Christians think they are doing well in, but may not actually be... MATURITY. Not the "I never act silly" or "I'm always the serious one/the one in control" type of maturity. Rather, I'm referring to spiritual maturity, the whole: meat vs. milk thing. Don't get that reference? Here it is... "We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.  (Hebrews 5:11-14) Honest Cassie tidbit- while I always thought I was really mature spiritually, I now realize that I'm still treading water in adolescence. I say that not to be pitiful, but to be completely transparent. I used to think that being a mature Christian was … [Read more...]

In My Prayers…Autism

I do not have a child with Autism. However, I pray for all families that do. I pray for the children, some of which are now adults. I pray for our country...for an awakening...in all areas of mandated health care and all health care alone. I pray for healing...I pray for the truth to be revealed and change to come...(I didn't know, until I did my own research. Now I know...now, you are in my prayers daily) … [Read more...]

Does God Speak?

I was asleep on the couch, until 4:20, when I heard my husband say, "Get up!" His words weren't normally so direct, especially at this hour. Yet when I opened my eyes and saw Him sitting straight up on the opposite couch, I immediately responded. Out of the corner of my eye there was a flash of light and I heard a roll of thunder. As quick as I had heard my husband's voice and responded, the hail began to fall from sky. It was clear to me that my Father in heaven was trying to get my attention. Following my husband down the stairs, thoughts of Matthew 24 came to mind and I asked myself would I be ready. I immediately thought of all of the events that were taking place in the earth that showed of the times that we are in and I asked again "Will I be ready?" I assured myself that I would, but as I saw the flashes of lightning, heard the thunder and the sound of hail stones falling quaked in my ears, I quickly walked to the other side of the house and down the hallway to see if my kids were still there. "Had they been taken up and I missed it?" I thought. Oh how I was relieved when I walked to the end of the hallway to find that they were still there. Once back in … [Read more...]
